BODYBOARDING WORLD CUP RETURNS TO PERU

Hans-Peter Firbas.- The effort of a team of people linked to this sport here in Peru has been rewarded by receiving the great responsibility of hosting the first two dates of the 2022 Junior World Tour, which is supervised by the International Bodyboarding Corporation (IBC).
On the Arica beach in Lurín, the initial event, will take place on March 11, 12 and 13 and in Marcona, Ica, the following weekend. The most successful representatives from dozens of countries will converge on our nation in search of the first good points in the battle for the title in this season.

The organizers of these IBC dates said that "with effort and heart we have just participated as a solid team in the FRONTÓN KING Junior World Championship held in the Canary Islands, where we obtained a fifth place and we were able to see the progress of this quarry o hotbed that we have been creating year after year on our beaches in Lima and now also in the provinces.” 26 thousand dollars in prizes will be distributed in the two appointments.

This two-date activity in Peru is due to the fact that there are several bodyboarders capable of taking the championship. "We are looking to win more world titles in this sport, after Cesar Bauer obtained it in the Dropknee modality in 2010. No one can take a World Champion from us", was the expression that Bauer's team and the fans shouted after obtaining this title for Peru,” they added.

Both events will attract many participants from around the world and will be the first in the history of the new IBC (International Bodyboarding Corporation) World Tour. The fact of being two events in a row one so close to the other creates a very positive effect in welcoming participants from abroad. Soon the names of those athletes who have their guaranteed participation in both events will be confirmed.

Among our exponents stand out Ivo Alvarado, Fabio Saavedra, Maycol Yancce, Hannah Saavedra, Daniel Flores, Imanol García, Omar Espinoza, Jostyn Mendoza, Nicolás Ríos, Owen Castro, Nicolás Espinoza, Luis Vivas, Miguel Misaki, Jesús Mendoza, among others. The sponsors are Independent Bodyboards, Looking for Talent, Floril and Marcobre, among others.

BODYBOARDING: THE STORY OF A SPORT THAT WAS BORN IN PERU

Already at the beginning of the 11th century, the Chimú culture left indelible traces about the birth of this activity, which at the beginning was recreational and for fishing.

In the photo you can see pieces from the Kingdom of Chimú exhibited in the State Museum of People's Culture, in München, Germany -Staatliches Museum für Völkerkunde München- from the year 1000 AD, which demonstrates without a doubt this statement.
